Calgary Weight Management Centre (CWMC®) is a patient focused weight loss and weight management facilitator that provides comprehensive, healthy and realistic weight loss and maintenance programs. Our strategies are based on recommendations from the "2006 Canadian Clinical Practice Guidelines on the Management and Prevention of Obesity in Adults and Children" published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. With personalized plans that include a multidisciplinary approach, we assist individuals to reduce their weight, modify behaviour and re-learn fundamental life skills to support them in maintaining their weight and re-establishing balance and fulfilment in their lives.

Dr. Shahebina Walji, MD, CCFP
Dr. Shahebina Walji is a family physician currently practicing in Calgary, Alberta. She obtained both her Honours Bachelors of Science Degree in Biochemistry and her Medical Degree from McMaster University, and subsequently received her Family Medicine designation from the University of Toronto. Dr. Walji has counselled many individuals and conducted a number of group workshops on a variety of public health issues. Her passion for health promotion and disease prevention, combined with her sincere desire to improve the quality of life of her patients, highly complements her strong interest in Weight Management.
Dr. Melanie Langford, Ph.D
Dr. Melanie Langford has a PhD in Clinical Psychology and has focused her training in the area of Health Psychology, a specialized field with an emphasis on the effective management of medical conditions. Dr. Langford supports individuals as they make positive, long lasting lifestyle changes, thereby improving the physical, emotional, and social aspects of their lives. She has assisted those coping with a variety of health issues, including obesity, diabetes, chronic pain and cancer. Most recently, she has been working extensively with individuals struggling with weight management and weight related health problems. Her thoughtful and sensitive nature fosters a calm and trusting relationship in both the individual and group settings.
Jennifer French, M.Ed, R.Psych
Jennifer is a Registered Psychologist with vast clinical and counselling experience in a variety of settings. She has received a Masters in Education specializing in Counselling Psychology, and she has worked with very diverse populations and client conditions, both individually and in group situations. With continuous training and consulting in the area of weight management, Jennifer has enriched her intrinsic interest in this field in order to provide current, evidence-based assistance to her clients. Jennifer takes a very collaborative and supportive approach, and she strives to understand how interpersonal, emotional, and cognitive factors impact a client’s ability to manage their weight and overall health. Through sensitive understanding and a healthy trusting relationship, Jennifer seeks to help clients meet their therapeutic goals and maintain longlasting changes in their lives.
Rory Hornstein, RD, B. Ed
Rory Hornstein is a Registered Dietitian with over 10 years of experience. She is specialized in a wide variety of areas including: nutrition for weight management, eating disorders and body image, sports, exercise, food intolerances/allergies, tissue repair, immune system enhancement, pediatric/adolescent nutrition, diabetes, heat disease, and digestive disorders. A member of Dietitians of Canada (DC) and the College of Dietitians of Alberta, Rory has held the title of Co-Chair of Sports Nutrition Network (DC's practice group of sports nutritionists) for four years. Currently, Rory is involved with an international sports group focusing on sport nutrition (PINES), and she is also an instructor at SAIT within the Health and Safety Department teaching a variety of classes in the area of nutritional science. Her strong health and wellness background and visionary approach to learning make for a very stirring combination in the fields of nutrition and physical activity. Rory's goal is to educate by integrating her knowledge and skills in the fields of nutrition, fitness and health promotion.
Grant Molyneux, M.Kin, CEP
Our Exercise Physiologist, Grant Molyneux, brings a whole new kind of positive energy to the CWMC program. Having both an Honours Bachelor Degree and Masters Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary, Grant’s wealth of experience with people of all ages and fitness levels enables him to bridge the scientific and practical aspects of coaching in a way that is meaningful to his clients. His passion is to share with others the joy of effortless exercise™ and the achievement of effortless endurance™ to create vitality and energy for life. Grant is also registered as a Certified Exercise Physiologist with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology and is certified as a Trainer of Fitness Leaders in Group Exercise and Resistance Training with the Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association.
Kara Exner, M.C.Ed, CPCC
Kara Exner has an immense passion for adult education and personal & professional development. She obtained her Master’s degree in Adult & Continuing Education and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan. Kara is a gradutate of the Coaches Training Institute and holds the designation of Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC). She has also earned the credential of Associate Certified Coach (ACC) from the Internation Coach Federation, and is a member of the Calgary Association of Professional Coaches. As our Certified Professional Coach, Kara’s calm and encouraging demeanour fosters a wonderfully peaceful and positive relationship with others. Kara will help you to create and maintain balance and fulfillment in your life, allowing you to maintain your healthy lifestyle changes.

As our Client Coordinator and Nutrition Consultant, it is Tanja’s belief that a balanced lifestyle can lead to a healthier weight and more fulfilled life. As a graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology's (SAIT) Nutrition program, Tanja enjoys promoting healthy choices and providing long term support to keep you motivated in your quest to achieve and maintain your goals. |
